Georgina Lester Counselling
About me
-
My name is Georgina, and I am a qualified Integrative Counsellor. Working in an integrative way means that I am not limited to just one therapeutic approach; instead, I use a variety of theories and techniques tailored to best suit your unique needs. The core of my training focused on Person-Centred, Gestalt, and Transactional Analysis.
I trained to become a counsellor in my 40s. Although it was challenging to juggle my existing life commitments with training and placements, I thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of my studies and quickly realised that this was the career for me. I am fascinated by the theories that underpin the work, but, most importantly, I consider it a genuine privilege to walk alongside a client on their individual counselling journey. Witnessing change—sometimes before the client even notices it themselves—is incredibly rewarding. It is truly fulfilling to see growth in confidence, a greater sense of self-awareness, improved relationships with others, self-acceptance, and an enhanced sense of self-worth.
Counselling is not always easy. There may be moments when you confront painful memories or experiences. However, I will be there with you every step of the way, ensuring that our work together progresses at a pace that feels safe for you, providing support throughout the process.
I believe that my own life experiences and previous professional roles have equipped me with a wide range of perspectives. Some experiences have been more positive than others, but all have contributed to my understanding of life’s challenges. Counselling has helped me navigate many changes in my own life, and it has enabled me to make adjustments I never thought would be possible. I would love to support you in making positive changes too.
When I’m not counselling, I take full advantage of what North Devon has to offer. I love walking my dog along the beach or through the beautiful countryside—activities that are beneficial for both of us, both physically and mentally.

- 2I value the importance of empowering my clients to make their own choices. I believe that each person has the capacity for growth, and I am here to guide, not dictate, their path. My role is to support them in discovering their own solutions and decisions.
- 3Trust is vital in the therapeutic relationship, and I am committed to maintaining confidentiality. I believe that only by creating a trusting environment can clients feel comfortable sharing their deepest concerns, which is essential for effective counseling.
- 4I believe in the importance of lifelong learning and self-reflection. As a counselor, I am committed to growing professionally and personally to better serve my clients. I constantly seek new knowledge, skills, and strategies to provide the best possible support.
